Our Foundation is starting an initiative to give milk goats or cattle to economically disadvantaged families in Tanzania as part of its efforts to promote sustainable rural development. The objectives of this effort are to support self-sufficiency, increase household income, and improve nutrition in communities that are at risk.
Project Details
Objective
This project’s main goal is to provide livestock to worthy people. Specifically, one of the two projects we hoped to build would be a community goat or cattle farm.
- Milk Cattle: Providing two families with high-yield milk cattle.
- Milk Goats: Supporting additional families with milk goats.
Budget Allocation
- Milk Cattle: Each milk cattle is budgeted at 1,500,000 Tanzanian Shillings.
- Milk Goats: Each milk goat is budgeted at 450,000 Tanzanian Shillings.
Implementation Plan
Selection Criteria

- Community Engagement: Work closely with local leaders and community members to select beneficiaries based on economic vulnerability and potential impact.
Distribution Process
- Procurement: Source healthy and productive milk cattle and goats from reliable suppliers.
- Training and Support: Provide beneficiaries with training on animal husbandry, veterinary care, and sustainable farming practices to ensure successful integration and management of livestock.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Implement a monitoring framework to track the progress of beneficiaries, assess the impact of the livestock on their livelihoods, and address any challenges that may arise.
Expected Impact
Economic and Social Benefits
- Income Generation: Increased household income through the sale of milk and dairy products.
- Nutritional Improvement: Enhanced access to nutritious milk for improved family health and well-being.
