Give Them Light: The Lightning Paths Brightening Futures
Give Them Light began with a simple but powerful mission: to support underprivileged communities by focusing on the environment, health, education, and empowerment. Our first campaign is a small but meaningful step — we’re helping pupils and parents from disadvantaged backgrounds get the support they need to stay in school and chase a brighter future

In 2015, two brothers, Omari and Fanuel, saw a need in their community they couldn’t ignore. In the remote villages of Tanzania, children were struggling without basic school supplies, and many girls were missing school simply because they didn’t have access to reusable sanitary pads. With only their modest personal income, the brothers began to help in small but meaningful ways—buying notebooks, pencils, and essential items for the children. Their actions were driven by love and a deep sense of responsibility, but they knew the impact could only go so far on their own. Determined to do more, they partnered with local leaders to introduce simple environmental awareness programs in schools. These small initiatives sparked important conversations and helped plant seeds of change in young minds. As they worked closely with the community, Omari and Fanuel discovered an even bigger gap—one that called for a larger movement. That’s when they decided to expand their vision, inviting friends from both inside and outside the country to join the effort. From that passion, Give Them Light was born—a movement dedicated to uplifting underprivileged communities through education, environmental care, health, and empowerment. What started as two brothers helping where they could has grown into a collective mission to bring light and hope where it’s needed most Along the way, we uncovered a deeper need in the communities we served. Seeing this gap, two brothers, Omary and Fanuel, came together with a shared vision: to reach more underprivileged people and make a lasting impact. They began inviting friends—both locally and from abroad—to join the cause. That moment marked the beginning of something bigger: a growing movement built on compassion, unity, and hope.

After years of helping in small ways—buying school supplies and offering support from their limited personal income—brothers Omari and Fanuel sat down for a serious talk. The need in their community was overwhelming, and they realized they couldn’t meet it alone. It was time to think bigger and bring others into the vision—people who shared their passion for making a difference. That’s when Fanuel remembered Johannes, a friend from Germany he had met eight years earlier during a medical outreach program. Johannes was a medical student then, and the two had bonded over their shared desire to serve those in need. Fanuel reached out and shared the idea of starting an NGO to support underserved communities. Johannes didn’t hesitate. He believed in the vision and sent €350 as a starting point to help bring it to life. With Johannes’ support and their own contributions, the brothers purchased school materials and custom-branded school bags, paid the registration fees to officially establish the organization, and created a website to share their mission with the world. That moment marked a turning point—from small, heartfelt acts to a structured mission now known as Give Them Light, a growing initiative dedicated to education, empowerment, health, and environmental awareness across Tanzania’s most underserved communities.

It was around this time that Charlène, a young woman from France, arrived in Tanzania on a long-awaited journey. She had always dreamed of visiting Africa, and when she finally landed, she felt an instant connection to the land. The golden sunsets, the vast Serengeti plains, and the warm smiles of the people filled her heart with joy. Her guide for the trip was Omari, a kind and knowledgeable man who introduced her to the beauty of Tanzania. Together, they explored the wonders of the Serengeti, hiked the breathtaking landscapes of Kilimanjaro, and visited the Hadzabe tribe. Through it all, Omari shared not just stories about the wildlife but also about the people—especially the children struggling to afford school supplies. After an unforgettable adventure, Charlène returned to France, but Tanzania never left her heart. A few months later, Omari reached out to her with a message that touched her deeply. He told her about Give Them Light and how he and Fanuel had been working for years to support children in need. Now, with the organization officially registered, they hoped to reach even more children—but they needed help

After years of doing what they could with their own income, they knew it was time to grow their impact. They began inviting friends—people who cared, both locally and from abroad—to join their mission. These friends trusted them and supported them generously, treating the two brothers not just as founders, but as caretakers of their shared hope. Fanuel and Omari took that trust seriously. They understood the importance of using funds wisely and responsibly, and they wanted to avoid any misunderstanding or conflict with the government. So, they made a crucial decision: to formally register their organization. In 2024, Give Them Light was officially registered as a non-governmental organization under registration number 00NGO/R/7560 This wasn’t just paperwork—it was a commitment. A commitment to operate transparently, with integrity, and to build a foundation that could truly serve communities for years to come. That’s how Give Them Light was born—not just from good intentions, but from shared values, courage, and a deep responsibility to uplift others.

After an unforgettable adventure, Charlène returned to France, but Tanzania never left her heart. A few months later, Omari reached out to her with a message that touched her deeply. He told her about Give Them Light and how he and Fanuel had been working for years to support children in need. Now, with the organization officially registered, they hoped to reach even more children—but they needed help. Charlène shared Omari and Fanuel’s story with her mother, Fabienne, and her younger brother, Arthur. Together, they knew they had to do something. They began raising funds—hosting small events, sharing the brothers’ mission with friends, and even organizing an online campaign. The response was overwhelming. With the money raised, Charlène, Fabienne, and Arthur returned to Tanzania, this time not just as visitors but as supporters of a cause they believed in. Omari and Fanuel welcomed them warmly, and together, they traveled to a local school where dozens of children eagerly awaited. They distributed notebooks, pencils, and reusable pads for the girls, who beamed with gratitude. As Charlène watched the children’s faces light up with joy, she realized that her journey had come full circle. What had started as a simple trip had turned into something much bigger—a lifelong connection, a shared purpose, and the beginning of many more journeys to bring light to those in need. Fanuel and Omari took that trust seriously. They understood the importance of using funds wisely and responsibly, and they wanted to avoid any misunderstanding or conflict with the government.
